Apple's MacBook Air is its most affordable notebook, striking a balance between cost, performance, and size. In March 2026, Apple unveiled updates to the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models, equipping them with the powerful M5 chip.

The M5 chip features a 10-core CPU and the fastest CPU cores available, with configurations offering up to 10 GPU cores and Neural Accelerators that enhance performance for AI tasks up to fourfold compared to the previous M4 chip.

With the M5 chip, the MacBook Air now starts with 512GB storage, configurable up to 4TB. More details can be found in our MacBook Air roundup.

The MacBook Pro is the most powerful laptop in Apple's lineup, recently updated with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. Pricing starts at $2,199 for the 14-inch M5 Pro model and $2,699 for the 16-inch model. The M5 Max variant begins at $3,599 for the 14-inch and $3,899 for the 16-inch.

These chips are built using a new Fusion Architecture, which integrates two third-generation 3nm dies into one chip. Both models feature an 18-core CPU, an upgrade from the previous 14-core and 16-core designs of the M4 Pro and M4 Max.

Apple claims the 16-inch model can achieve battery life of up to 24 hours and can fast-charge to 50% in just 30 minutes with appropriate USB-C adapters.
